President’s Message:
This school year is quickly bumping to a close. Where did it go? Don’t fret, we are already planning for next year! Our fabulous Spring Concert is next week and I’ve heard it will not disappoint! The new Recording Secretary will be sworn in at Monday’s meeting - Welcome. The “band camp t-shirt contest” is underway. The theme for next season is “Postcards from Britain”. The winner will receive a $25 American Express Gift Card! Good luck to all, I can’t wait to see your designs. They will be going to print at the end of the contest.
I know things are very unsettled right now and we appreciate your ongoing support of the Highlander Band. Please continue to go to BOE meetings and show that you are interested and concerned for our great Music Program! Hang in there. Please remember that our volunteers are the backbone of this organization and we need each and every one of you. Please sign up where you can for next season. It’s easy, fun and you meet the greatest people. Who knows, you may even make a life-long friend.
Eyes with Pride!
Shelly Burghoffer
FUNDRAISERS, OPPORTUNITIES & NOTES
Laptop Raffle

Nomination
The Recording Secretary position will be voted on and accepted at the meeting on May 17th
Market Day – Last Chance this season!!!
Market Day last day to order is June 2nd @ 11 p.m. Pick up is June 8th between 4:00 and 5:00pm at Maple Road School.
Orders can be placed on line (preferred method), or by calling Barbara Edwards at 973-697-0357.
Order forms are available in the band classroom. Take one home and look it over!
The food is great, convenient and money goes into your student account! If you’ve never tried it, why not give it a try now. You won’t be disappointed! New customers should log on to www.marketday.com and follow the directions for placing an order. Our account number is 10041, and when entering your name, please put HB after your first name, so that the Highlander Band receives credit. Paper orders should not be left in the band room. Friends and family can also buy, and the profit will go into your child's account. Barbara will need to know the names of these people before the sale, so she can assign profit to band/guard members. Volunteers are needed at Maple Road on pick up days in order for the band to receive profit. Call Barbara if you have any questions, or would like to help
(973-697-0357).
Volunteers needed from 3-4 for unloading truck and filling orders. It’s fun and your student can earn service hours!
Parking: There is no parking allowed in the fire lane after any band activity while students are still present. This poses a danger to the band members while they are marching down, unloading their equipment, or just leaving for the evening. Please be considerate of our students.
